Forgot about this, my brain is like some form of compacted cheese- there are Swiss holes where new info can squeeze into, but those new tidbits may or may not form into retained mind Muenster. I have so much needless sports knowledge that I would gladly trade in for more useful intelligence. If only I could shake my head like an etch a sketch or put large magnets over both ears to somehow wipe my memory clean of all the crap and keep just the good stuff.
So tonight the BUZZARDS single on ZITI RECORDS goes up for sale and a little bit of promo will follow, I can’t help but think “what if this single had came out in 2000 when it was recorded?” and “why did we turn down full lengths on Sympathy and Get Hip?” hhhmmmmm? At least some of those recordings are finally seeing daylight!
And no, the BUZZARDS are not opening for the GORIES / OBLIVIANS tour…ahoooo
Recent news: After various legal battles, the unreleased songs by the BUZZARDS from Detroit are finally going to see the light of day!!! The band features former DIRTYS singer Joe Burdick (your’s truely), DETROIT COBRAS guitarist Maribel Restrepo and the twins- Leslie and Nancy Paterra.
The first thing released will be a three song 7″single on the Brooklyn, NY based ZITI RECORDS. Cover art was done by four different artist (Lil Tuffy, Ivarton, Von Dada and Joe Dirty w/Roxxan) in hand numbered limited editions of 125 copies of each.
The Eerie Past: I used to rehearse across the street from an old lady who would get very upset about all the noise me and my band mates made. She never called the cops, but she did say that she put “Curses” on all of us. We never paid it any mind, why would we?
Here’s a rundown of the people who were “Cursed”-
DRUMS- Larry Terbush: Went on to play w/ me in the Dirtys. Died mysteriously at a party in Detroit. R.I.P.
GUITAR- Chad Kerr: Played in P-37 and the Blacks. Died mysteriously after freaking out on tour w/ the Blacks and jumping out of the van and running away. His body was found naked a week later in the Idaho desert, it was eaten by coyotes. R.I.P.
Vocals-Mark Vasquez: Sponsored skateboarder and amatuer Judo champion, enlisted in the Marines prior to 9/11. Died in combat while hunting down Bin Laden. Died on veterns day and was front page news around the country. R.I.P.
Bass- Joe Burdick: Went on to play in the Dirtys, the Buzzards, the Fondas, Luxury Rides and the Joe Dirty show. Last seen on tour w/ the Detroit Cobras, putting out records and living in Brooklyn, NY.
Maybe nothing has happened to me because I was born on Halloween, should I be scared?
The Early Past: In the seventh grade I asked my folks to get me a guitar for Christmas, but instead I got a casio SK-1. Total bummer! It wasn’t until my tenth grade year that I was able to procure my first guitar by trading six cassettes and a cow skull to a kid who called himself ‘Masterwarp‘.
